Do I need an exact screenshot size?

Phones use a range of dimensions. Wear OS requires square screenshots; Automotive uses exact dimensions; XR has an 8:5 landscape ratio. Use the device selector for the appropriate checks.

What is the difference between a requirement and a recommendation?

A red result flags a technical check that failed. Guidance for a stronger listing is shown separately and does not change a passing result. Google also has content requirements which this checker cannot evaluate.

Why does an opaque PNG fail the alpha check?

A PNG can contain an alpha channel even when all its pixels are opaque. Export as JPEG or 24-bit RGB PNG without alpha. Google’s general screenshot format specification excludes alpha channels.

How many screenshots should I upload?

Google requires at least 2 across device types and permits up to 8 per device type. For screenshot-based recommendations, apps need at least 4 and games at least 3 with the specified resolution and aspect ratio. Device-specific set requirements are shown after checking.
